Tree Planting Program
The journey towards a greener Malaysia does not end when a tree is planted, it begins there. Over the years, Yayasan Hijau Malaysia has played an active role in supporting the national Greening Malaysia: 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign, contributing to nationwide efforts to increase green cover, strengthen biodiversity and build climate resilience.
Through strategic collaborations with government agencies, corporate partners, educational institutions and local communities, Yayasan Hijau Malaysia (YHM) continues to drive meaningful forest restoration and greening initiatives across the country. Our tree planting programmes have successfully facilitated the planting of more than 373,887 trees through 38 corporate collaborations, mobilising over RM10.45 million in sponsorship support to advance Malaysia's environmental sustainability agenda. These achievements reflect YHM’s strong commitment to delivering real, measurable impact for climate action and biodiversity restoration, while providing corporates with a transparent and credible pathway to fulfil their ESG and sustainability goals.
Building on this momentum, YHM is expanding its tree planting programme under the Social Forestry Initiative, a more holistic approach that goes beyond planting trees to focus on long-term forest restoration, biodiversity enhancement and community stewardship. The programme incorporates community-led nurseries, seed banks, native species propagation and livelihood-linked conservation activities to ensure sustainable restoration outcomes.
By empowering local and Orang Asli communities as active custodians of nature, the programme creates opportunities for environmental conservation while strengthening community participation and ownership. This approach recognises that healthy forests are sustained not only through planting activities, but through continuous care, restoration and stewardship.
Through the Social Forestry, YHM aims to scale its impact by mobilising more communities, strengthening partnerships and restoring ecosystems that support biodiversity, climate resilience and the well-being of future generations, ensuring that today's greening efforts create lasting benefits for Malaysia's people and nature.
